Title: Digital Orthognathics: 3D Planning for Surgical Accuracy and Outcomes
Author: Dr. Jiby Daniel Biju

ISBN: 978-93-5938-278-4

Orthognathic surgery has entered a transformative era with the advent of three-dimensional (3D) virtual planning. What was once reliant on two-dimensional records and manual model surgery has now evolved into a precise, data-driven digital workflow. The integration of cone-beam computed tomography, intraoral scanning, and facial imaging allows clinicians to visualize complex craniofacial structures in three dimensions, enabling more accurate diagnosis and comprehensive treatment planning. This shift has not only enhanced surgical precision but also improved predictability of outcomes and patient communication.

This book aims to provide a concise yet comprehensive overview of 3D virtual planning in orthognathic surgery, bridging traditional surgical principles with modern digital advancements. It outlines the essential steps involved in the workflow from data acquisition and image integration to virtual surgical simulation and transfer of the plan to the operating room. Emphasis is placed on clinical relevance, ensuring that readers can translate digital concepts into practical applications. The text is designed to benefit both beginners exploring digital orthognathics and experienced clinicians seeking to refine their approach.

While technology continues to evolve rapidly, sound clinical judgment remains the cornerstone of successful treatment. This book highlights not only the advantages of digital planning but also its limitations and the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration. By combining innovation with established principles, it is hoped that this work will guide clinicians toward delivering more precise, efficient, and patient-centered orthognathic care.

Dr. Vidhi Gopalani is a Postgraduate Student in Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry, a compassionate

researcher, and a passionate writer whose clinical work is driven by a deep commitment to providing

comprehensive dental care for children, including those with special healthcare needs. She has

completed her Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from Hitkarini Dental College and Hospital,

Jabalpur (M.P.), and is currently pursuing her Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) in Pediatric and

Preventive Dentistry at the same institution.

During her postgraduate training, Dr. Vidhi has developed a keen interest in cleft lip and palate

management, focusing on pre-surgical nasoalveolar molding (NAM) and comprehensive care for

affected infants.

Her enthusiasm for Pre-Surgical Nasoalveolar Molding (PNAM) stems from a desire to reduce

surgical burden, improve long-term outcomes, and provide holistic support to families navigating

complex care pathways from the very beginning of a child's life.

By merging clinical precision with a natural gift for clear, empathetic writing, Dr. Vidhi aims to

bridge the gap between advanced clinical techniques and practical execution. This book reflects her

unwavering dedication to empowering clinicians, postgraduate students, and parents with an

accessible, evidence based roadmap to early cleft intervention.
